What is a Blue Aadhar Card, and how is it different from white? The Aadhaar card has now become the most important KYC document to avail government subsidies and welfare schemes in the country. What is a Blue Aadhar Card, and how is it different from white?
Generally, the color of the Aadhaar card issued is white. But in 2018, UIDAI started issuing 'Bal Aadhaar' cards for children below 5 years of age. It is specially designed in blue color. Blue Aadhaar card contains a 12-digit unique identification number issued to a child below 5 years of age.
Is biometric data necessary for Blue Aadhaar?
Let us tell you that, unlike adult citizens, biometric data is not initially required for issuing Blue Aadhar Cards to children. Children's unique ID stores data from the parent's UID and data based on the child's facial photograph. But when the child turns 5 years of age and then 15 years, the full biometric data has to be updated. Failure to do so will render the Aadhar card invalid.

According to UIDAI, parents can apply for their child's Baal Aadhaar. During this, a birth certificate or hospital discharge slip has to be given for registration. Apart from this, children's school ID can also be used to get Blue Aadhaar.
Why is a Blue Aadhar Card necessary?
Generally, due to lack of information, parents or guardians do not get Aadhaar made for their children. In such a situation, they face obstacles in getting many government schemes like scholarships in schools. Nowadays Blue Aadhaar is an essential document for verification of EWS scholarship. Apart from this, many schools have made Bal Aadhaar mandatory at the time of admission.
Know the process of registration for Blue Aadhaar
- First of all, visit the UIDAI website uidai.gov.in.
- Click on the Aadhaar Card Registration option here.
- Fill in your child's name, parent's mobile number, and necessary information.
- Book an appointment slot at the nearest center for Blue Aadhar Card registration.
- Reach the Aadhaar center with the child. Carry your birth certificate and your Aadhaar, address proof.
- Share the information to link your Aadhaar information with Bal Aadhaar.
- Here only a photo of your child will be taken, biometric data is not required.
- Once the verification process is complete, you will receive a message on the registered mobile number.
- Return home with the registration slip and the child, Blue Aadhaar will come home within 60 days.
