Navi Mumbai: 11 people died due to heat stroke during Maharashtra Bhushan event in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra on Sunday. 24 people are undergoing treatment in the hospital. The dead includes 8 women, most of whom are elderly. The program was held from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at a large ground in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature of the day was 38 degree celsius.

Home Minister Amit Shah presented award to social worker Dattatraya Narayan Dharmadhikari during the ceremony. Lakhs of his fans attended the occasion. Audio and video facilities were fully arranged in the ground for all the people to watch and listen to the program, but no shade was placed on the seating arrangements made for the people. On this occasion, the sun and heat ruined the health conditions of many people.

Millions of people attended the program which was supposed to end at 10:30 am but went on till 1 pm. After this, it took time to evacuate the people present in the crowd. Due to dehydration, many people started feeling dizzy and their health deteriorated.
