Dhaula Kuan Blue BMW Accident Case Accused Gaganpreet Kaur Gurugram Residents, GBT Nagar Latest New: Gaganpreet Kaur, accused in the Delhi BMW accident that killed Navjot Singh, Deputy Secretary in the Economic Affairs Department of the Finance Ministry, on Sunday, has told police that she took the victim to a hospital 19 km away because she was in panic and only knew that hospital, India Today reported.
According to the news report, Gaganpreet Kaur, during interrogation, stated that her children had been admitted to the hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic and that’s why the hospital came to her mind.
The victim’s wife and son have alleged that the accused deliberately took the deceased along with his wife to New Life Hospital in GTB Nagar, allegedly 19 km away from the accident spot.
Navjot Singh’s wife, in her FIR, said that her husband was still alive after the accident and that she pleaded with the accused to take them to a nearby hospital, but Gaganpreet ignored her.
Navjot Singh’s son said, “There was definitely something wrong, but they were taken to a hospital 20 km away and it took an hour. It was not even a hospital, more like a nursing home. They did not have any facilities. When I reached, my mom was being treated in the lobby itself. They did not even have proper equipment, and I do not know why they were taken to that hospital.”
“There are better hospitals near Dhaula Kuan and AIIMS too. He could have been saved if he had been taken there.”
The victims were taken to the hospital in GTB Nagar in a delivery van.
Mohammad Gulfam, an eyewitness who drove the victims to the hospital, told ANI, “I was coming from Dhaula Kuan when I saw a car in an accidental condition and some people were injured. I made two people sit in my car and took them to the hospital. There were two injured persons in my car, and another woman was sitting in the front seat. The lady sitting in the front seat told me to take the car towards Azadpur and to New Life Hospital…”
“The condition of the injured was very bad. It took us 1 hour to reach the hospital. The doctors were ready at the hospital, and I think this is why she asked me to take them to that hospital. I didn’t ask them anything because I didn’t know much about the nearby areas…” Gulfam added.
The woman who was driving the BMW car, Gaganpreet Kaur, aged 38 years, a resident of Gurugram, Haryana, was arrested by Delhi Police on Monday after she was discharged from the hospital.
The accident took place on Sunday when her speeding blue BMW rammed into the motorcycle Navjot Singh and his wife were riding, near Dhaula Kuan.
The victim’s wife survived with multiple fractures and head injuries, according to the India Today report.
The BMW and the motorcycle have been seized, and a forensic team has examined the accident site.
Gaganpreet has been sent to 2-day judicial custody after she was produced before the court. She has reportedly filed a bail application and notified the police.
The court will hear the matter on September 17.
