New Delhi: The country is currently going through a coronavirus crisis and the lockdown has had a major impact on business.
During the crisis, petrol and diesel prices have been going up for the last ten days. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this matter.
In her letter, Sonia Gandhi said that the government had earned about Rs 2.6 lakh crore by raising petrol and diesel prices during the lockdown.
At a time when people are in crisis, raising prices like this is putting them in more trouble. In such a situation, it is the duty of the government to address the crisis of the people.
Sonia Gandhi wrote that the government has increased excise duty on petrol by 258 per cent and diesel by 820 per cent in the last six years, earning about Rs 18 lakh crore.
