In a first, Indian Railways establishing ATMs on trains

Mumbai (Maharashtra), April 16, 2025 (ANI): For the first time ever, Indian Railways has installed an ATM machine on a train as part of a trial run. The ATM has been set up aboard the Manmad-CSMT Panchvati Express in Maharashtra. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a video of the onboard ATM on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to Babushahi, the idea of installing ATMs on trains was proposed during a meeting with potential vendors held on March 25, 2025. The report also mentioned that a similar trial was conducted on April 10 aboard the 12110 Manmad-CSMT Panchvati Express.
"The ATM was properly secured for its maiden journey with rubber pads and bolts for vibration isolation. Two fire extinguishers have also been provided in the allotted space," the Railways stated.
