"India Will Be Free from Naxalism by 31 March 2026": Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday reaffirmed that India will be free of Naxalism by March 31, 2026, while addressing a ceremony for the distribution of appointment letters to 60,244 newly selected police constables at the Defence Expo Ground in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking at the event, Shah said, “Naxalism was once widespread in 11 states of the country. But after 11 years under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, it is now limited to just three districts. Mark my words: by March 31, 2026, this country will be completely free from Naxalism.”
Recruitment Highlights
Commenting on the recruitment drive, Shah emphasized the diversity and transparency of the process.
He said that this recruitment includes individuals from every caste, community, and district of Uttar Pradesh. He claimed that earlier, police recruitment was influenced by caste considerations.
He added that the force now operates with CCTV cameras, control rooms, command centres, PCR vans, and over 150 FSL units, and urged the recruits to carry forward the vision with the mantra of security, service, and sensitivity.
Shah also noted that 12,000 women were among the newly appointed constables.
Pledge for Faster Justice
The Home Minister also promised speedier delivery of justice, stating,
“With new reforms in laws such as the Indian Penal Code and the Indian Evidence Act, I assure you that in the next five years, justice from the filing of an FIR to the Supreme Court verdict will be delivered within three years—a significant improvement over the current delays.”
Political Swipe at Congress
Taking a jibe at the Congress party, Shah said, He said, "Terrorist attacks used to happen every day under Congress' rule.... Pakistan tried to attack India thrice during PM Modi's rule... When they tried in Uri, they were met with a surgical strike. After Pulwama, they were met with an air strike, and after Pahalgam, the headquarters of terrorists were razed to the ground with Operation Sindoor. PM Modi sent a message to the whole country that India's blood is not meant to be shed, and whoever dares to do this will be punished."
