Gold prices in India plunged on Tuesday, April 15, marking the second decline in the third week of April. Silver also saw a slight fall for the second time this week.
Last week, gold prices had crossed a record high, with 24-carat gold reaching Rs. 95,600 per 10 grams, marking the highest rate so far this year.
Gold prices in India had surged sharply due to global uncertainties and trade tensions. However, they have recently dropped by about Rs. 4,900 per 100 grams for 24K gold. Despite this short-term dip, experts expect the overall upward trend in gold prices to continue, as long as global economic concerns, such as tariffs, persist, as per the report published in Goodreturns.
On April 15, according to Goodreturns, the 24-carat gold rate in India is priced at Rs. 95,180, with a price fall of Rs. 350 per 10 grams.
Meanwhile, the price of 22-carat gold in India dropped by Rs. 330 per 10 grams, bringing it to Rs. 87,200. Similarly,18-carat gold declined by Rs. 290 per 10 grams to retail at Rs. 71,350.
Silver prices in India on Tuesday, April 15, fell slightly by Rs. 100 per 1 kg, bringing the price down to Rs. 99,800. For 100 grams of silver, the rate is now Rs. 9,980 after a Rs. 10 drop.
MCX Gold and Silver Futures Prices
Gold and silver prices on the MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange) moved in different directions today:
Gold prices increased slightly. Gold futures for delivery on June 5, 2025, are now priced at Rs. 93,274, showing a 0.2% rise.
Silver prices dipped slightly. Silver futures for delivery on May 5, 2025, are now trading at Rs. 94,826, reflecting a 0.05% decline.
Spot Gold and Silver Rates
According to a latest report by Reuters, "Spot gold gained 0.4% to $3,221.70 an ounce as of 0245 GMT, after hitting a record high of $3,245.42 on Monday. U.S. gold futures rose 0.4% to $3,237.60. Spot silver, however, slipped 0.4% to $32.22," according to the commodity outlook by ICICI Direct.
