NEW-DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, many leaders and parliamentarians paid tribute to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar at Parliament House complex on his Birth Anniversary Today. 

In a message, President Murmu said, "The symbol of wisdom and excellence, Dr. Ambedkar made great contributions despite the odds as an educationist, jurist, economist, politician and social reformer and spread knowledge for the welfare of the nation”. 

She said, "Babasaheb's original mantra- 'Educate, unite and struggle to bring backward communities into the mainstream of society' will always be relevant."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Tribute to Babasaheb on his birth anniversary who dedicated his life for the empowerment of deprived and exploited sections of the society." Jai Bheem!”

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar tweeted, "A humble tribute to Dr. BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. He was a great intellectual, jurist, social reformer and a true nationalist.” The Vice President said that Babasaheb was a supporter of the rule of law, a tireless advocate of justice and worked for equal rights for all.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was a pioneer of social change and promoted the values of equality, freedom, justice and community. 

In a function organized in the Parliament complex, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, many leaders and MPs offered flowers of devotion to the statue of Babasaheb. It is worth mentioning that Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in Mahu, Madhya Pradesh. Rising from the background, he became the voice of the marginalized during the freedom struggle. He is credited with initiating many social reforms.
