Farmers Protest 2024: Farmers To Resume March After "Ceasefire" at Shambhu and Khanauri Borders

Farmers Delhi Chalo March Protest at Shambhu Border Day 2 News Today: Protesting farmers are all set to resume their march towards Delhi after a night halt. In the meantime, protesting farmers are all set to continue with their march while the security personnel are set to defend their fortresses, which currently are the Shambhu border and the Khanauri border.

It is pertinent to mention that the protesting farmers had declared a "ceasefire" last night and also promised to "try again" to march towards Delhi. Likewise, prohibitory orders were imposed and a huge security force was deployed as the farmers may try to break the barricades again today.

Tuesday was a flashback of the 2020-21 protest with tear gas and water cannons being used to disperse farmers from crossing the Punjab-Haryana border.

The farmers said that they were prepared for the long haul and that they had enough diesel to reach Delhi and ration to last six months. Farmers said that they won't return until their demands are met, even if it takes months.

The farmers are protesting over various demands. The government has already accepted most of their demands but three of them are still pending. These include a law on MSP, farm loan waiver, and implementation of the Swaminathan Commission recommendation.

It may be mentioned that the farmers' protests are not just affecting the commuters but also the vehicle owners as Punjab on Monday received less diesel and gas due to the farmers' protest.
