Embassy of India Issues Important Advisory to Indians in Iran and Their Families in India

The Embassy of India in Tehran has issued an advisory urging Indian nationals living in Iran to leave the country using available means of transport, including commercial flights, amid massive protests and the government’s crackdown on protestors.

“In continuation of the advisory issued by the Government of India on 5 January 2025, and in view of the evolving situation in Iran, Indian nationals who are currently in Iran (students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists) are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport, including commercial flights,” the advisory stated.

The advisory further requested Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) to exercise due caution, avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, remain in contact with the Indian Embassy in Iran, and monitor local media for developments.

All Indian nationals have also been advised to keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identity cards, readily available. They have been requested to contact the Indian Embassy for any assistance.
