Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan earlier today paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in the deadly 2001 Parliament terror attack, as 13th December marks the 24th anniversary of the horrific attack on India's Parliament.
Congress Parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi party MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other Parliamentarians also paid floral tributes.
The leaders, including BJP leader Kiren Rijiju, also observed a moment of silence.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, remembering and paying “heartfelt tributes,” said that the brave security personnel “stood as an unbreakable shield during the cowardly terror attack on Parliament House”.
“They laid down their lives to protect the soul of our democracy. Their courage, supreme sacrifice, and unwavering sense of duty will forever live in the nation’s conscience and inspire India’s resolve,” the defence minister added.
A family member of a security personnel who lost his life, told news agency ANI, "I was very young at that time... I was told that my father was shot... After a few days, I was told that he had passed away... But when this day comes, we feel proud, and we will always be proud of him..."
CRPF Constable Kamlesh Kumari was the first to spot the terrorists.
The deadly 2001 terrorist attack on the Parliament:
During the exchange of fire with terrorists, four Delhi Police personnel, namely, Nanak Chand, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Rampal, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Om Prakash, Head Constable, and Ghanshyam, Head Constable attached with the Vice President’s security, lost their lives on the spot, according to the PIB archive.
The other three persons who were also killed were Kamlesh Kumari, a Woman Constable of CRPF, Jagdish Prasad Yadav, a Security Assistant of Watch and Ward Staff of the Parliament House, who had rushed after the terrorists’ car and a civilian employee of CPWD, Desh Raj, 18 other persons were injured and they were immediately rushed to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for medical treatment.
These included Matbar Singh, Security Assistant, Watch and Ward Staff of the Parliament House who later succumbed to his injuries. The scene of the crime was cordoned off and Investigation Teams including Forensic Experts and Bomb Detection Squads were pressed into service. A number of hand grenades were recovered from the site of the incident and defused. A large quantity of arms and ammunition including explosives was also recovered.
