Security Forces Eliminate 2nd Terrorist in Rajouri Encounter, Toll Rises to Three

JAMMU: In a successful culmination to a three-day-long operation, security forces in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir have neutralized a second terrorist, bringing the total count to three. This operation followed the tragic incident in the remote Narla village where a suspected Pakistani terrorist was killed in an encounter, resulting in the loss of an army soldier and a heroic 6-year-old army dog named Kent, along with injuries to three security personnel.

Despite adverse weather conditions, security forces maintained a vigilant cordon around the area, located 75 km from Rajouri city, throughout the night. They intensified search efforts in the surrounding areas with intermittent firing reported during the night, causing apprehension among local residents. Consequently, demands for a permanent security presence in the area have been voiced by the concerned residents.

The Operation was initiated with a cordon and search effort in the forested area on Monday, in response to suspicious movements by two individuals. The suspects managed to evade capture under the cover of the dense forest, leaving behind a bag, clothing, and other belongings which were subsequently recovered by search teams.

Notably, This year has witnessed a series of encounters in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, resulting in the elimination of approximately 26 terrorists and the sacrifice of 10 security personnel.
