SHIMLA: Lahaul Spiti, located in the picturesque region of Himachal Pradesh, experienced multiple earthquake tremors during the late night hours. The first set of tremors, measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale, were felt at 9:30 pm, resulting in some residents hastily evacuating their homes.

The region was struck by another round of tremors at 10:07 pm, although the intensity was reported to be lower than the initial earthquake. The epicenter of the earthquakes was found to be approximately 10 kilometers below the ground. Fortunately, no casualties or significant damages have been reported so far. However, the consecutive occurrences of earthquakes have left residents in a state of fear and anxiety, especially given the extensive destruction caused by heavy rainfall in the district.

The district of Lahaul Spiti has been grappling with the aftermath of heavy rains, which have triggered landslides, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted daily life. The recent earthquake tremors have further added to the distress of the local population. Reports suggest that mild tremors were also felt in certain parts of Jammu, highlighting the wider impact of the seismic activity.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have assured residents that necessary measures will be taken to ensure their safety. Efforts are underway to assess the extent of damage, particularly in areas already affected by the heavy rains. The local administration is coordinating with relevant departments to provide immediate assistance and support to affected individuals and communities.
