New Delhi: The cases of coronavirus are on the rise in India. According to a recent study, Indian women have a higher risk of dying from the corona virus than men. As of May 20, the death rate among infected women was 3.3 percent. Among men, it is 2.9 percent.

Researchers said that women need to be extra careful to prevent corona infection. The research was conducted by the Indian Institute of Economic Development's Population Research Centre in collaboration with the Research Institute of India and the United States.

According to research, Indian men are at higher risk of corona infection. As of May 20, 66 per cent of men and 34 per cent of women were infected. Earlier, the Ministry of Family and Health Welfare had said that three-quarters of corona cases, or 75 per cent, were among men.

The World Health Organization has put the corona mortality rate in India at 3.34 percent. According to researchers, this could be as high as 4.8 percent.

However, earlier research in other parts of the world had shown that the risk of corona infection and death was higher in men.
