A Spirit of Service: PM Modi Approves Major Welfare Files from New ‘Seva Teerth’ Office

In a historic shift of operations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new PMO complex, ‘Seva Teerth,’ on Friday, marking the end of a 99-year legacy at the British-era South Block. Highlighting a vision of citizen-centric service, the Prime Minister’s first acts from the new office involved signing four major welfare files targeting farmers, women, youth, and the healthcare of vulnerable citizens.

A key highlight is the launch of the PM RAHAT Scheme, which guarantees cashless medical treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh for road accident victims. This programme aims to ensure that no life is lost due to a lack of immediate medical help.

For the agricultural sector, the Prime Minister approved doubling the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund from Rs 1 lakh crore to Rs 2 lakh crore to strengthen India’s entire agriculture value chain

The government also set a more ambitious goal for women’s economic empowerment, doubling the Lakhpati Didi target to 6 crore women by March 2029, following the early success of the initial 3-crore milestone.

Additionally, to fuel the next wave of innovation, the Startup India Fund of Funds 2.0 was cleared with a Rs 10,000 crore corpus, specifically aimed at deep-tech and advanced manufacturing.

According to the PMO, these first decisions from Seva Teerth reflect a "spirit of Seva" and aim to touch every section of society, including farmers, women, and the youth.
