Menstrual Leave News: Gauhati University, along with its affiliated colleges across Assam, has introduced a groundbreaking provision granting female students the right to take menstrual leave. This announcement, spearheaded by the Vice-Chancellor, brings a 2% relaxation in minimum class attendance for female students, acknowledging the importance of menstrual health in academia.

A recent notification issued by the university has declared the immediate implementation of these changes, allowing female students to avail themselves of menstrual leave. According to the notification, female students will now require a minimum of 73% class attendance to be eligible for semester examinations, a shift in policy aligned with directives from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

The decision marks a significant step towards inclusivity and recognition of menstrual health, enabling female students to manage their academic commitments more effectively while prioritizing their well-being. This move resonates with national directives and underscores the university's commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive academic environment.
