A video capturing the dire conditions at Chitkara University's canteen has gone viral, showcasing students compelled to have their meals amidst flooded premises. This video has rapidly gained traction on various social media platforms, including Twitter, where numerous users have shared it. The footage depicts male students eating food in the university's canteen, which is submerged in rainwater.

The video has sparked astonishment among viewers, leading to numerous retweets and comments highlighting the unexpected flood situation. It should be noted that the continuous rainfall over the past few days has caused significant difficulties in the region. In response, the civil administration of Ambala, Patiala, and Jalandhar in Haryana promptly extended assistance to the Indian Army.

On July 9, the situation at Chitkara University became a cause for concern, prompting the army to initiate a rescue operation to evacuate the students. According to an army spokesperson, a total of 910 students have already been safely evacuated, and efforts are underway to evacuate the remaining individuals promptly. The university administration has officially announced the closure of the institute until July 6, 2023.

The flooding incident has underscored the urgent need for measures to address the infrastructure vulnerabilities and mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall. Chitkara University, along with local authorities, will likely focus on implementing necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff members.
