Social Media users are expressing disapproval of the incident

The Spiritual leader of Tibet, Dalai Lama issued an apology to the boy, his friends and family after a video of the Dalai Lama kissing the boy on the lips created controversy on Sunday. A purported video of the Dalai Lama kissing a boy on the lips and asking him to 'suck his tongue' fueled outrage across the world. 

Taking to Twitter, the Buddhist monk wrote, "A video clip has been circulating that shows a recent meeting when a young boy asked His Holiness the Dalai Lama if he could give him a hug. His Holiness wishes to apologise to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused. His Holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras. He regrets the incident."

The Social Media users are expressing disapproval of the incident. They termed it as 'scandalous', 'creepy', 'disgusting', 'abusive' and 'repulsive'. Notably, the Dalai Lama is among the best-known spiritual leaders in the world. The Followers of the spiritual leader believes that the current Dalai Lama, 'Tenzin Gyatso', to be the reincarnation of his 13 predecessors.
