Bhai Dooj 2023 Date

Bhai Dooj 2023 Date: Bhai Dooj, the cherished celebration of sibling love, is set to be commemorated on November 15, marking the occasion when brothers and sisters strengthen their bonds through traditional customs. This annual festival, observed on the second day of Shukla Paksha in the Kartik month, symbolizes the affectionate relationship shared between siblings.

History & Significance.....

The Roots of Bhai Dooj trace back to the story of Yami, fondly known as Yamuna ji, and her brother Yama, the revered deity of death. Legend has it that Yama, missing his sister deeply, paid an unexpected visit to Yami's residence. Overwhelmed by his arrival, Yami lovingly prepared an array of dishes to welcome her brother. As Yama prepared to depart, Yami performed a tilak ritual, offered him sweets, and presented a coconut as a token of affection.

In a heartwarming exchange, Yama asked his sister for a boon, to which Yami expressed her desire for an annual reunion, ensuring her brother's visit at least once a year. Yama obliged, promising that any brother who receives a tilak from his sister on this auspicious day will be blessed with a longer life and resolution of life's adversities.

This festival, also known as Yama Dwitiya, is observed on the second day of Shukla Paksha in the Kartik month, following the timeless tradition established by Yama and Yami.

Bhai Dooj stands as a poignant testament to the enduring bond shared between siblings, honoring love, protection, and the promise of togetherness, as cherished through the ages.
