Ratan Tata Cremated with Full State Honours: Nation Pays Tribute to an Icon

Ratan Tata Death News, Cremation Today: Ratan Tata, the revered chairman emeritus of Tata Sons and one of India's most celebrated industrialists, was cremated with full state honours on Thursday evening in Mumbai’s Worli. Tata, who passed away at the age of 86 on Wednesday at Breach Candy Hospital, was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour by the Mumbai Police as his mortal remains were taken to the crematorium for his final rites.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal were among the key dignitaries present at the funeral. Shah paid respects on behalf of the Government of India, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Laos attending the ASEAN-India and East Asia Summits.

Earlier in the day, Tata’s mortal remains were kept at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in South Mumbai from 10 AM to 4 PM, allowing the public to pay their final respects to the industrial giant. Tributes poured in from leaders across the country, including Prime Minister Modi, who hailed Tata as a “visionary leader and philanthropist.”

In honour of Ratan Tata’s legacy, the Maharashtra government has declared a one-day state mourning. Tata, who led the Tata Group for over two decades, leaves behind a legacy of industrial excellence and philanthropic endeavours that reshaped India’s corporate and social landscape.

The nation mourns the loss of a true icon, whose influence extended far beyond business to impact the lives of millions across the globe.
