MOHALI: A Video of police brutality is going viral on social media, claiming that the police has lathi-charged the Anganwadi workers protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

X account Vishal Kumar shared the viral video and claimed that the police has lathi-charged the Anganwadi workers protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Spokesman in its investigation has found the viral post to be misleading. This viral video is not recent but four years old. This case was of Ranchi when Anganwadi women workers had surrounded the CM residence and during that time when the matter became fierce, there was lathi charge by the police.

We found this video shared on Youtube by WU Live on September 25, 2019. While sharing this video, the account wrote the caption, "A top police officer attacked Anganwadi workers, hand broken / workers protest"

While sharing this video, the description was written, "On Tuesday, Anganwadi women workers surrounded the CM residence in Ranchi. These people were protesting peacefully for 9 demands including making them permanent in their job profile. The protest was peaceful but then a woman worker became furious. Instead of trying to console, the top police officer himself started beating her with sticks. Dozens of women were injured in the barbaric police lathicharge, while a worker's hand was broken due to the police lathicharge."

Now, keeping this information in mind, we started searching for news through keyword search.

According to the news of media house, Dainik Jagran dated September 24, 2019, "In order to control the crowd of maids and assistants who were going to surround the CM residence for nine-point demands including stabilization and increase in honorarium, the police had to lathicharge near Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. Nearly a dozen maids and assistants got injured in this incident. Out of these, Basanti Devi, the maid of Ranchi Sadar, got her hand broken, while Karmi Lakra, the maid of Hatma Center, got serious injury."
