Punjab Strengthens Infrastructure, Honors Martyrs with New Road Upgradation Works
Dhuri: In a heartfelt tribute to the indomitable spirit of freedom fighters, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann paid homage at the martyrdom memorial of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Dhadhogal, the brave revolutionary who endured severe torture while waging a relentless battle against British rule. The ceremony took place at village Dhadhogal in Sangrur, where the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of two crucial road development projects worth Rs 17.21 crore.
The projects include the repair of the Dhandra–Amargarh road and the widening of Dhadhogal–Samundgarh–Channa road from 10 to 18 feet, which will significantly improve connectivity for residents of the region. In a mark of respect, the Chief Minister announced that these upgraded stretches will be named Shaheed Bhagat Singh Dhadhogal Marg.
Speaking at the event, Bhagwant Mann said, “Martyrs never die; they live on forever as symbols of courage and sacrifice. Heroes like Sardar Bhagat Singh Dhadhogal inspire generations to fight for justice and stand up for the rights of the people.”
The Chief Minister recalled how Dhadhogal, a close associate of Sewa Singh Thikriwala, spent long years in jail and went on hunger strikes to resist colonial oppression. He stressed that today’s youth must draw inspiration from martyrs who fought not for themselves but for the freedom and dignity of the nation.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to balanced development, Mann said these road projects will not only ease travel for thousands of commuters but also accelerate economic activities in Sangrur and surrounding areas. He reaffirmed that honoring the sacrifices of martyrs goes hand in hand with building modern infrastructure for a progressive Punjab.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by senior officials, local representatives, and villagers, who expressed gratitude to the state government for both commemorating their local hero and delivering long-pending infrastructure upgrades.
