Kolkata Law Student Rape Case: Union Minister JP Nadda Receives Report from BJP Fact-Finding Team

Kolkata Law Student Rape Case,  JP Nadda Receives Report from BJP Fact-Finding Team Latest News: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, on Tuesday said he received the report submitted by the BJP fact-finding team constituted to investigate the alleged rape of a law student in Kolkata.

“This report exposes the utter state of lawlessness in West Bengal and the state government's alarming insensitivity towards women's safety. From Sandeshkhali to RG Kar Hospital and now this, the pattern remains the same — silence, inaction, and protection for the accused,” Nadda stated in a post on X.

The BJP fact-finding team comprises former Union Ministers Satpal Singh and Meenakshi Lekhi, Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb, and Rajya Sabha MP Manan Kumar Mishra.

The team was formed after Archana Majumdar, a member of the National Commission for Women (NCW), alleged that the West Bengal Police had obstructed the NCW team from visiting the crime scene and meeting the victim’s family.

The 24-year-old law student was allegedly raped on the evening of June 25 within the college premises.

Majumdar further alleged that the police were deliberately hiding the victim's family and warned that these developments would be included in the NCW’s official report.

“The police are saying they don’t know where the family is. The Deputy Commissioner, who is the nodal officer for the case, claims ignorance about the victim’s whereabouts. This is highly suspicious. We will document all of this in our report,” she said.

So far, three men, Monojit Mishra, Zaib Ahmed, and Pramit Mukhopadhyay, have been arrested in connection with the case. The college’s security guard, identified as Pinaki Banerjee, was also arrested last month.
