Delhi govt introduces 500 EV buses as CM Rekha Gupta-led BJP govt completes one year in office
“The hopes and aspirations of the people of Delhi withered away. Delhi stopped dreaming of development,” Gupta said.
Delhi News: As the BJP government completes one year in the national capital, the CM Rekha Gupta-led government marked the occasion by introducing 500 electric buses in Delhi on Sunday, with the objective of tackling air pollution.
The event was attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, and other senior leaders.
Addressing the gathering, CM Gupta took a swipe at the previous AAP government led by Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that Delhi had lagged behind in development for the past 11 years.
“The hopes and aspirations of the people of Delhi withered away. Delhi stopped dreaming of development,” Gupta said.
She stated that people in Delhi were left yearning for basic amenities such as water, sewage, and healthcare.
“But in the 2025 assembly elections, the people of Delhi gave a befitting reply to those who claimed to be the masters of Delhi. Arrogant Kejriwal used to say, "You will have to be reborn to defeat me." But the people of Delhi, in this very lifetime, in this very Ramlila Maidan, changed the atmosphere of Delhi by forming the BJP government,” she added.
To mark the completion of one year in office, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, and BJP National President Nitin Nabin flagged off the electric buses as well as the Delhi–Panipat bus service.
Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh told ANI that 500 electric buses have been introduced for commuters.
“We are also increasing connectivity between Delhi and Panipat,” he added.
BJP MLA Anil Goyal, who was also present at the event, told ANI that the electric buses have been inaugurated to address Delhi’s air pollution and environmental concerns.
