Acharya Prashant receives Award on On World Environment latest news: On World Environment Day, May 5, 2025, the Green Society of India honored environmentalist and campaigner against superstition, Acharya Prashant, with the prestigious “Most Impactful Environmentalist” award. He has been instrumental in integrating spiritual clarity with environmental awareness.
The Green Society of India honored him with the award for guiding millions towards sustainable living, according to a report by ANI.

Accepting the honor, Acharya Prashant delivered a powerful speech, as quoted in the ANI report,"The climate crisis is not just outside, it's inside. The glaciers are melting because our minds are burning with greed. Oceans are rising because our desires know no bounds. Before we can act responsibly, we must first think clearly. And that is where true environmentalism begins — not in policy, but in consciousness."

"When we talk about the environment, we usually refer to forests, rivers, air, and wildlife. But do we ever ask what kind of people we are that we end up polluting rivers or depleting forests?" he questioned.

"Until we address the pollution within — the inner chaos, violence, and apathy — how can any external action truly succeed?"

"We talk about the Air Quality Index but never the 'Human Quality,' as if the fault lies in the air and not in us," he remarked.

"If we were handed a new planet after destroying this one, most of us would forget about the environment instantly," he said.

Acharya Prashant has launched Operation 2030 as a proactive response to the escalating climate crisis. This initiative aims to address environmental challenges by fostering inner transformation and promoting sustainable living.

“There is enough scientific evidence that says if the average global temperature exceeds 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, it could trigger massive feedback loops — self-sustaining and irreversible climatic phenomena. There is evidence that the average global temperature rise has already reached 1.7 degrees Celsius. This operation is a voice against an impending catastrophe — a catastrophe that the younger generations are going to face the brunt of,” is stated on his website.

Concluding the speech after receiving the award today, he said, "We are not running out of time; we’ve already run out. 2030 is no longer a policy target; it is a planetary lifeline. To win this race against time, we need a million mutinies in favor of the planet — mutinies in how we think, consume, and live. In homes, classrooms, offices, and within ourselves, change must erupt. The only hope now is an inner revolution led by aware, courageous individuals who refuse to be part of the problem. Nobody is going to come to save the planet. It starts with you."

The Green Society of India (GSI) is a registered non-profit organization established in 2012, headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. GSI is dedicated to environmental protection and aims to raise awareness and drive action on critical issues such as green transportation, pollution, industrial development, and ecological conservation.
