New Delhi: A day after protesting wrestlers called on farmers to join the wrestlers' protest over their demand for the arrest of the head of the Wrestling Federation of India Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Punjab's largest farmers' union Bharti Kisan Union (Ugrahan) announced that thousands of women would reach Jantar Mantar on May 7.

The State president of the union, Joginder Singh Ugrahan, said that the female wrestlers who were sitting on a peaceful protest were abused and beaten first and now the police have barricaded them to suppress their rights. He said that the caravan of women farmer leaders will leave for Delhi on May 6 against the dictatorial decision of the Modi government.

Ugrahan said that a big demonstration will be held at Jantar Mantar under the leadership of women leaders Harinder Kaur Bindu and Kuldeep Kaur on May 7. Apart from this, BKU Women cadre will hold protests on May 11, 12 and 13 in Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand.

They are demanding that the President of Indian Wrestling Federation, Brij Bhushan Singh, should be arrested and the injured players should be given free government treatment. He has said that if the demands are not met, the agitation will be intensified.
