PM Modi Begins Three-Day Visit to Sri Lanka, First Foreign Leader to Meet President Dissanayake, Latest news: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a three-day visit to Sri Lanka. He arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo, on Friday evening, where he received a warm welcome from five Sri Lankan ministers, including Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, and Fisheries Minister Ramalingam Chandrasekar.

Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted by members of the Indian community at Hotel he going to stay for the next three days.

This is his first visit to Sri Lanka since President Anura Kumara Dissanayake assumed office in 2024, and also the first visit by any foreign leader since the new Sri Lankan administration took charge.
However, this marks Prime Minister Modi’s fourth visit to Sri Lanka overall. His last visit to the island nation was in 2019.

During the visit, he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Sri Lankan leaders and inaugurate several development projects carried out in Sri Lanka with Indian assistance. These include railway projects connecting the northern region of the island to the capital, according to a report by NewsOnAir.

The Prime Minister is also expected to sign agreements in various sectors, including Defence and Energy.
Prior to his arrival in Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Modi was on a two-day visit to Thailand.
