Pune: People are using many things to cover their faces during the novel coronavirus pandemic like masks, handkerchief etc. The health officials have made it clear that covering one's face is a necessity in order to protect oneself from the virus.

However, a man in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region of Pune is covering his face with a mask made of gold. Shankar Kurade got a gold mask made for himself to wear during the pandemic.

The mask that costed him Rs 2.89 lakh is quite thin and has minute holes in it, so that there is no difficulty in breathing. However, Shankar is not very sure about the effectiveness of the mask in protecting him from the novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the total number of novel coronavirus in India is near the mark of 6.5 lakh and over 18,000 deaths have been recorded.
