India's First Beggar-Free City to Be Indore latest news: India's First Beggar-Free City to Be Indore Renowned for being the cleanest city in India, Indore is now working to reach yet another noteworthy goal: becoming the first city in the nation to be beggar-free. In an effort to combat homelessness and poverty through more constructive means, the administration has implemented stringent new regulations that forbid both begging and donation-giving.
A recent case gathered a lot of attention when a motorcyclist was accused of giving a beggar Rs 10 and a formal complaint was made against him. The fact that this was the second representive case of this kind in as short a time as two weeks demonstrated the city's resolve to implement this new rule.
The government has offered a prize of Rs 1,000 to anyone who can provide information about begging activities in the city in an effort to support the initiative even more.
An Officer From Beggary Eradiction Team , Phool Singh disclose that from past six months around 600 beggers have been sent to shelter homes also 100 children's were placed in childcare institutions, On the other hand many were found begging while pretenting of selling ballons and other small items on the roadside.
The Union Ministry Of Social Justice and Empowerment has initiated a pilot project aimed at making ten cities across India free from begging.
