Delhi AQI Today: Delhi on the top in list of polluted cities in world; Delhiites mask up again
Schools have been closed in the national capital for two days.
Delhi AQI and Pollution News Today: Delhi, the national capital of India, has turned out to be a 'gas chamber' as the air quality deteriorated to 'Severe' category. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's Air Quality has dipped to 'Severe' category causing a trouble for the people of Delhi.
In the meanwhile, Delhi has also topped the list of world's most polluted cities, as per the real-time data compiled by Swiss group iQAir. As per the report, India's three cities are featured in list of Top 10 Polluted Cities in the world. These include Delhi on the top, Mumbai on the 4th, and Kolkata on the 8th position.
Likewise, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday made an announcement on Twitter regarding the closure of schools. He tweeted, "In light of the rising pollution levels, all govt and private primary schools in Delhi will remain closed for the next 2 days."
This means the schools in Delhi will now open on Monday, i.e. November 6.
In view of the rising pollution, the authorities have also called for an emergency meeting on Friday at 12 pm where further measures will be discussed.
To note, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered as 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'. However, the AQI in the national capital has plunged to 460 on Friday which is said to be the worst so far this year. On Thursday, it was recorded at 422 at 10 pm, and has been worsening over the past few days.
