Tamil Nadu CM Stalin Slams Centre: No Probe in Manipur or Kumbh Deaths, But Swift Action in Karur

Tamil Nadu CM Stalin Slams Centre: No Probe in Manipur or Kumbh Deaths, Karur Stampede Latest News: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Friday morning criticized the BJP-led NDA government, alleging selective response to tragedies across the country. He pointed out that while the Centre failed to send an inquiry commission during the Manipur riots, it was quick to act in the case of the Karur stampede.

Addressing a public gathering, Stalin stated, “When Tamil Nadu was struck by three major disasters that affected thousands of people, the Union BJP Finance Minister neither visited the state nor sanctioned any relief funds. But now, she has rushed to Karur immediately.”

He further added, “The BJP, which did not send inquiry commissions for the Manipur riots, Gujarat incidents, or Kumbh Mela deaths, is now promptly sending a team to Karur. This is not out of genuine concern for Tamil Nadu, but clearly because elections are due next year.”

Stalin accused the Centre of politicizing tragedies.

Father Shares Ordeal of Losing Wife and Daughter in Karur Stampede

Saktivel, a resident of Emur Pudurn, lost his wife Priyadarshini (35) and daughter Dharanika (14) in the tragic stampede during a public event held by TVK chief and actor Vijay on September 27, which claimed 40 lives.

Sharing his heartbreaking experience with ANI, Saktivel said, “My wife and daughter went to Vijay’s campaign on the 27th at 12 noon. I had told them that if the crowd was too heavy, they should come back home. As time passed and they didn’t return, I called them around 4:00 PM, but they didn’t answer. Later, I received a voice message from them on WhatsApp.”

He continued, “At 7:30 PM, I called again, but still got no response. The fourth time I called, someone else answered the phone. I rushed to the hospital and asked about them. They showed me some photos, but they weren’t in the treatment ward. When I went to the mortuary and checked, I found their bodies there.”

Saktivel’s story reflects the deep personal tragedies behind the Karur stampede, which has sparked widespread political and public outrage.
