Excise Policy Case: HC Seeks Report from CBI over Manish Sisodia's Interim Bail
Sisodia was Arrested on Feb 26 after Several Rounds of Questioning
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit a status report on the plea seeking interim bail of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's wife on the ground of illness. Notably, Sisodia has been arrested in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma asked CBI to submit the report on Thursday. Sisodia's regular bail plea is also scheduled to be heard in the court on the same day. Sisodia's lawyer said that his wife's health needs immediate attention. Along with this, the lawyer requested the court to grant him interim bail. The CBI's lawyer said that it would not be possible to submit the report on Thursday.
On this, the court ordered the CBI's lawyer to try and submit a report by Thursday so that the application can be heard along with the regular bail petition. Sisodia was arrested on February 26 after several rounds of questioning in connection with alleged corruption in the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Earlier on March 31, the trial court had rejected Sisodia's bail plea in this case.
