PT Usha, Wrestler Bajrang Punia at Jantar Mantar in Delhi

New Delhi: Indian Olympic Association president and Rajya Sabha member (nominee) PT Usha reached Jantar Mantar on Wednesday to meet the protesting wrestlers. All the wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia, have called a sit-in protest against the president of the wrestling association Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh since April 23. These wrestlers are demanding the arrest of BJP MP Brij Bhushan, accusing him of sexual harassment.

After meeting PT Usha, wrestler Bajrang Punia said in a media interaction, "PT Usha said that she is with the wrestlers and will give us justice. She is an athlete first and then something else. She said that we will investigate and resolve the matter as soon as possible. We will stay here till Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh goes to jail."

Notably, Wrestlers who have won many medals for the country at national and international levels are protesting at Jantar Mantar. The wrestlers are demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Earlier, Delhi Police had registered two cases against Brij Bhushan over alleged charges of sexual harassment.

It is worth mentioning here that a few days ago, PT Usha has issued a statement in which she said that the protest of wrestlers on the streets is indiscipline, it will damage the image of India.

In response to this, the statement of wrestler Bajrang Punia also came out in which he said,"We did not expect this from PT Usha ji. We thought she would stand with the athletes. She herself is a woman. I am hurt by her words."
