Supreme Court Upholds WBSSC Job Scam Ruling, Orders Fresh Recruitment in 3 Months, Latest News: SC uplelds Culcutta high court order in Mamata Banerjee Government had challenged Calcutta High court order, Calling off the appointment of over  25,000 teachers and non-teaching staff under the West Bengal School Service Commission, in the Surpreme court. The Top court has upheld the Calcutta High court order in a huge blow to Mamta Baneerje  govt., citing the entire selection process was tainted by manipulation and fraud, undermining its credibility and legitimacy.

The court has ordered the Banerjee Govt. to initiate a fresh selection process in next three months. In this fresh Recruitment drive, all eligible candidates including the ones who appeared in the 2016 can apply, hoever, there wont be any special preference for them.

In its order, SC it is said that those clear this fresh selection process would have to return the salary they got since their appointment in 2016 and those who don’t must pay back.

The court has asked the person with disabilities to continue in their present posting.

The controversy revolves around supernumerary posts created by the state government. In the 2016 state-level selection test, over 23 lakh candidates appeared for 24,640 vacant positions. However, 25,753 appointment letters were issued. It is alleged that these additional posts facilitated illegal recruitment.

In 2016, the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) conducted the State Level Selection Test (SLST) to fill teaching and non-teaching positions in government-sponsored and aided schools.
