SC Grants Conditional Approval for Ranveer Allahbadia to Resume Podcast

Chandigarh: The Supreme Court on Monday granted YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia permission to resume uploading his podcasts and shows on social media, albeit with certain conditions. The court had previously directed him to halt his podcast following backlash over controversial remarks he made on Samay Raina’s YouTube show.

Court’s Consideration

The decision came after Allahbadia filed a petition stating that his podcast serves as his primary source of livelihood. The Supreme Court acknowledged his plea while imposing restrictions to ensure compliance with content guidelines.

Controversy and Legal Action

The controversy erupted following Allahbadia’s remarks on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent, which sparked outrage and led to multiple FIRs being filed against him. The Maharashtra Cyber and Mumbai Police are currently investigating his statements made during comedian Samay Raina’s show.

On Monday, both Allahbadia and fellow YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani appeared separately before the Maharashtra Cyber unit to provide their statements in an ongoing case related to obscenity charges.

Admission and Apology

According to an official, Allahbadia admitted that his comments were inappropriate and acknowledged his mistake. He conceded that his choice of words during the show was inappropriate and that he is facing criticism for them.

Allahbadia also clarified that his participation in the show was solely due to his friendship with Samay Raina and stated that he did not receive any compensation for his appearance.

This development marks a significant turn in the ongoing investigation, as authorities continue to examine the case while the Supreme Court's conditions ensure responsible content dissemination in the future.
