COVID-19 Update: The specter of the COVID-19 pandemic has once again gripped India as the country reports a surge in cases during the winter season. According to data released by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, more than 600 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded across the nation in the last 24 hours, accompanied by five reported deaths.

The alarming trend reflects a consistent rise in COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases in the country to nearly 4400. The update from the Ministry of Health reveals a total of 602 new infections and five fatalities in the past day, pushing the active cases to 4440.

Since the onset of the pandemic, India has witnessed a staggering total of over 4.5 crore COVID-19 cases, with 533,366 reported deaths. The situation remains dynamic, prompting health authorities to maintain a vigilant stance to curb the spread of the virus.

Contrary to the data reported on Tuesday, where 573 new cases were documented with two reported deaths, the latest figures indicate a slight increase. On January 1, the first day of the new year, the country recorded 636 new cases, and three individuals succumbed to complications related to COVID-19.
