Three Killed, Two Injured in Chamba Car Accident; Police Warn Against Drunk Driving in Hilly Areas
The ASP added that it remains to be seen whether the victims had consumed alcohol, and an investigation is underway.
Three people were killed, while two others were injured in a tragic car accident on the Bairagarh-Devikothi Tepa road in the Churah subdivision of Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, when the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge.
The accident occurred near the Tepa drain at around 5:45 p.m. yesterday, according to sources.
All three deceased and the two injured individuals are residents of different villages in Tehsil Churah.
The deceased driver has been identified as Rajendra, son of Shri Jagat Ram from village Bahala. The other two who lost their lives in the tragic accident have been identified as Sachin, son of Kishan Chand from village Chandru, and Pammi, son of Narain Singh from village Bahala.
The two injured, hailing from villages Bahala and Jini, are undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital, Teesa, an official confirmed.
The tragic accident took place yesterday evening when all five people aboard the vehicle were returning from a wedding. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Chamba, all three of the deceased died on the spot.
The ASP added that it remains to be seen whether the victims had consumed alcohol, and an investigation is underway.
He further stated that Chamba district is a high-altitude region with many dangerous terrains and appealed to the public not to drive under the influence of any intoxicant, especially in such risky areas.
