Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Likely To Resign Today

Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhwinder Sukhu Resignation News: Amidst the political crisis in Himachal Pradesh, there were reports that Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu tendered his resignation on Wednesday due to resentment of MLAs within the Congress party in the state, the Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur had claimed.

However, the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu himself clarified that he has not given his resignation and that they have the majority. He said he has several BJP MLAs in his approach and that the Congress led-government in Himachal Pradesh will complete its five-years tenure.

Likewise, Naresh Chauhan, the Principal Adviser to CM Sukhvinder Sukhu, had also denied the reports. He had said, "Honorable Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu ji has not resigned from his post yet. This news is only a rumour."

Earlier in the day, Himachal Pradesh's PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh had resigned from his post.

The development came after the ruling Congress party suffered a humiliating defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections despite having a complete majority in the state.

It was the BJP leader and LoP Jairam Thakur who claimed that CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had tendered his resignation. However, Himachal CM denied the reports.

The Rajya Sabha elections brought a rift in the Himachal Pradesh government as six MLAs cross-voted in favor of the BJP candidate which resulted in the party's defeat.

Earlier today, PWD minister and former CM Virbhadra Singh’s son Vikramaditya Singh also resigned from the cabinet and alleged the voices of MLAs were being stifled.
