Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: Yellow Alerts for Heatwave Issued, Relief Expected After June 15
Himachal Pradesh, June 12, 2025 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Shimla, has issued orange and yellow alerts for heatwave conditions in several districts of Himachal Pradesh for today, June 12, particularly in the plains, lower hills, and mid-hill regions.
According to the IMD, an orange alert has been issued for Kullu and Una districts, warning of heatwave conditions. A yellow alert has been issued for Kangra, Mandi, and Shimla, indicating moderate heatwave conditions.
These conditions are expected to persist in some of these districts on June 13 as well. Additionally, there is a possibility of thunderstorms, rainfall, hailstorms, and gusty winds on the same day.
No weather warning has been issued for June 14, and the weather is likely to remain mainly dry across most parts of the state. From June 15 onward, isolated areas in Himachal Pradesh are expected to receive light rainfall, offering some relief from the ongoing heat.
The public has been advised to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and limit prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

On June 11, Una recorded the highest maximum temperature at 43.5°C. There was no significant change in temperature over the past 24 hours, although the average maximum temperature remains above normal statewide.
Looking ahead, on June 16 and 17, 2025, thunderstorms accompanied by rain/hailstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 km/h are expected in some parts of the state, according to the IMD.
