Hansi Declared Haryana’s 23rd District; Notification to Be Issued Within a Week
Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini announced on Tuesday during a public rally in the historic town that Hansi has been officially declared the 23rd district of Haryana. The decision was long-awaited by local residents and political representatives. It marks a significant administrative reorganisation in the state. Saini said that the formal government notification declaring Hansi a district will be issued within a week.
CM addressed the assembled crowd and confirmed that the creation of the new district aims to decentralise administration and improve governance for the region’s residents. Officials said that while the announcement was made publicly, the official gazette notification is still pending and expected to be released soon.
Under the new arrangement, the reorganisation will affect the existing Hisar district, which currently administers Hansi as part of its territory. Once the notification is issued, Hisar district will retain two subdivisions, Hisar and Barwala, while the newly formed Hansi district will comprise two subdivisions: Hansi and Narnaund. The government said this change is designed to streamline local governance and bring administrative services closer to the ground.
According to local representatives, the move fulfils a long-standing demand from the people of Hansi and surrounding areas, who have sought district status for years to accelerate development and administrative responsiveness. Hansi’s elevation comes nearly a decade after the creation of Haryana’s 22nd district, Charkhi Dadri, highlighting the state government’s renewed focus on administrative restructuring.
According to analysts, the decision aligns with broader state priorities to reorganise administrative boundaries ahead of the Census-2027, for which the government is expected to finalise district limits and subdivisions before the end of 2025.
Local leaders and residents have welcomed the announcement, describing district status as a catalyst for infrastructure growth, better service delivery and enhanced political recognition for Hansi and its neighbouring communities.
