Puran Kumar Suicide Case: Haryana Sends Accused DGP Shatrujeet Kapur on Leave Latest News: The Governor of Haryana, on October 14, issued an order assigning the additional charge of Director General of Police (DGP) of Haryana to IPS Om Parkash Singh after DGP Shatrujeet Kapur was sent on leave following the allegations surrounding the death of IPS Y. Puran Kumar.
“The Governor of Haryana is pleased to assign the additional charge of DGP, Haryana, to Sh. Om Parkash Singh, IPS (HY:1992 RR), Managing Director, Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Panchkula, Director/FSL Madhuban, and DG/HSBNCB (H) during the leave period of Sh. Shatrujeet Singh Kapur, IPS (HY:1990),” read the order issued by the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Haryana, Home Department.
IPS Y. Puran Kumar, who belonged to the Dalit community, allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Chandigarh on October 7. In the ‘final note’ he left behind, the officer accused several senior police officials, including Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapur, of caste-based discrimination, targeted mental harassment, public humiliation, and atrocities.
