Panjab University, PU Election Result 2024, Live Updates: Polling for the student council elections was held at Panjab University (PU), Sector-14, Chandigarh, as well as in 10 city colleges on Thursday. A total of 56,252 students were to determine the victory or defeat of 139 candidates contesting the elections. The independent candidate, Anurag Dalal marked landslide, victory, and stunned everyone.

The PU administration and Chandigarh Police completed all preparations for the election ahead of the crucial day. The voting took place today at Panjab University, and the results are underway.

Eight candidates were competing for the post of president in PU, representing the student wings of BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and Shiromani Akali Dal. Among the candidates, three are women. The candidates include Prince Chaudhary from CYSS, Arpita Malik from ABVP, Rahul Nain from NSUI, Sara from PSU Lalkar, Tarun Siddh from SOI, Mukul Tim from Mukul, Alka from ASF, and independent candidates Anurag Dalal and Mandeep Singh.

6:30 PM | Anurag Dalal still leading with more than 500 votes

Independent candidate Anurag Dalal for the post of President at Panjab University has continued the difference of more than 500 votes from his rival Prince Chaudhary of CYSS. Anurag Dalal has got 3121 votes so far. Prince Chaudhary of CYSS is in second place with 2683 votes. ABVP's female candidate Arpita Malik got 931 votes and NSUI got 467 votes. 

5:05 PM | DAV College Sector-10's new president is Lavish Sehrawat

Results of Sector-10 DAV College have been declared in the student council elections wherein Lavish Sehrawat has become the new president of DAV College, Sector 10. Mrinal Steta has won the post of Vice President. Meanwhile, Shaurav Panwar has won the post of Secretary and Yaima Oinam has won the post of Joint Secretary.

4:30 PM | Anurag Dalal leading with more than 500 votes

Independent candidate Anurag Dalal for the post of President at Panjab University has made a difference of more than 500 votes from his rival Prince Chaudhary of CYSS. Anurag Dalal has got 1523 votes so far. Prince Chaudhary of CYSS is in second place with 947 votes. ABVP's female candidate Arpita Malik got 374 votes and Tarun Sidhu of SOI got 337 votes. 

On the Vice President post, Karandeep Singh (Sath) is leading with 910 votes. Archit Garg of NSUI is in third place with 803 and Karanveer Kumar of USO with 597 votes.

For the Secretary post, Jashnpreet Singh (SOPU) got 961 votes, Vineet Yadav (INSO) got 908 and Paras Parasar of NSUI got 856 votes. 

For the post of Joint Secretary, Rohit Sharma got 775 votes, ABVP's Jaswinder Rana got 750 votes and ISO's Tejaswi got 472 votes. (Panjab University, PU Election Result 2024, Live Updates)

3:30 PM | Independent Candidate Anurag Dalal is leading
Independent Anurag Dalal has got a maximum of 802 votes for the post of President. Prince Chaudhary of CYSS is on the second number. At the same time, NSUI's Archit Garg got 436 votes, Sath's Karandeep Singh got 395 votes and ABVP's Abhishek Kapoor got 329 votes. Vineet Yadav of INSO is leading with 674 votes for the post of secretary.

Abhimanyu Mann has become the new President of Government College, Sector 11. At the same time, Yashika, studying B. Com final year has won from Dev Samaj College for Women.

Anurag Dalal, who stood as an independent for the post of President, is leading by 65 votes. At the same time, Vineet Yadav of INSO is leading for the post of secretary.

1:40 PM | KCSU wins President post in Khalsa College
In Khalsa College, KCSU leader Amanjot Singh has won the President post. At the same time, in MCM College, Nancy Somani has been elected President, Pranchal as Vice President, Amrita Kaur Sandhu as General Secretary, and Ashriya Aajta as Joint Secretary.

1:30 PM | Blessy Chawla becomes President of Khalsa Women's College
Blessy Chawla has been elected President of Khalsa College Women. Mahak has been made the Vice President, Prabhjot Kaur the General Secretary and Khushi the Joint Secretary. In Sector 26, Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, all four candidates have been elected unopposed. Last year also the whole panel in the college won unopposed.

In SD College, SDCU's Jatan Gill has won the President's election.

1:07 PM | HSA won in PGGC 46
PGGC 46 now has HSA's Praveen President, Dimple Vice President, General Secretary Aniket Bhatia, and Joint Secretary Mansi.

ABVP is trailing in PGGC 46. HSA is moving forward. Results will be declared shortly.

Ballot boxes for office bearers and departmental representatives of the student council have arrived at UIET. The counting of votes in the department for DR will begin shortly. The office bearer's ballot box will be taken to the gymnasium hall by the warden's team.

Aniket won the post of General Secretary in the HSA panel in PGGC 46. 2 candidates filed nominations against him but they withdrew their nominations before voting.

11:20 AM | NSUI supports Independent Candidate Anurag Dalal
PhD scholar Anurag Dalal is standing as an independent candidate for the post of chairman from the Department of Chemistry. Anurag is being supported by NSUI's former state president Sikander Boora. Many NSUI workers are supporting Dalal and he is said to be likely to win.

10:50 AM | Some outsiders have been detained by the police at the gate of PU.

10:35 AM | Voting has started in all the colleges of Chandigarh. In PGGC 46, the main contest is between ABVP and HSA because CYSS has supported HSA. Similarly, two groups were seen arguing outside Khalsa College located in Sector-26.

10:25 AM | There are 10,263 voters in 2023, compared to 9,919 in 2022, 9,882 in 2019, and 9,418 in 2018. For security reasons, Gate No. 1 near PGI will remain closed from 12 noon to 4:30 pm.

10:23 AM | Students have started arriving at DAV College to cast their votes in the student council elections. Similarly, students are also heading to Khalsa College, Sector 26, to participate in the voting process.

10:22 AM | Ballot boxes have been installed in 62 departments of Punjab University and 182 polling booths are ready for voting. Students will have to enter their department for voting by 9.30 am, after which the voting process will continue till 10.30 am.

10:15 AM | At Panjab University, nine candidates are contesting for the position of president, five for vice president, four for secretary, and six for joint secretary. Out of the total candidates, four are women, with three running for the position of president and one for vice president.

10:00 AM |  Votes will be held today for student council elections in 10 colleges of the city including Punjab University. 56252 students will decide the victory or defeat of 139 candidates trying their luck in the elections. Voting started at 9.30 am. The result will also be announced by 8 pm.
