To the Relief of Daily Commuters, Chandigarh Police Restricts Traffic Officials from Issuing Challans

In a move being widely appreciated by the public, the Chandigarh Police has made a decision that many are calling absolutely right.  As reported by MyChandigarhCity, police officials posted at traffic lights and intersections have now been instructed to only manage traffic and not stop vehicles or issue challans.

According to a post on Instagram, DGP Sagar Preet Hooda has issued strict instructions in this regard.

Reactions on social media have been quick and spirited. One user humorously commented, “Save kar leta hoon, agar roka toh reel dikha dunga.” (“I'll save the video; if they stop me, I’ll just show them the reel.”)

Another user said, “The decision taken by Chandigarh Traffic Police is absolutely right.”

A third user, highlighting concerns of harassment and corruption, said, “Finally, harassment and corruption paused! We hope this isn't just a temporary solution, and that harassment doesn’t continue through the online system!”

On a lighter note, one user sarcastically remarked about the financial perks tied to corruption, “Bacho ki school fees, biwi ki shopping, aur khud ke entertainment ka kharcha kahan se nikalenge ab ye?”
(“Where will they get money for the kids’ school fees, the wife’s shopping, and their own entertainment now?”)
