Chandigarh Weather Forecast: Cool, Rainy October Expected, IMD Predicts
IMD predicted that Chandigarh and its nearby districts will likely receive more rain than usual.
Chandigarh Weather Forecast Update for October 2024 Latest News: After experiencing the coolest September in six years, Chandigarh is set to see more rain and cooler days in October, according to the long-range forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The forecast suggests that the city will receive above-average rainfall this month, maintaining the cool conditions.
The IMD's forecast, based on probability models, indicates that while most of Punjab and Haryana will see below-normal rainfall, Chandigarh and its nearby districts will likely receive more rain than usual. The average rainfall for Chandigarh in October, based on IMD data, is typically 22.2 mm.
Surender Paul, IMD Chandigarh director, explained, "Rainfall is expected in the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh, which may influence weather patterns in Chandigarh, leading to more rain. However, it won’t match the intensity seen in September."
Monsoon withdrawal has already been declared in parts of Punjab and Haryana, but Chandigarh is yet to follow due to ongoing rain in the hills. The monsoon is expected to retreat from the city within the next two to three days.
With continued rain in October, maximum temperatures are expected to remain below normal, while minimum temperatures may rise slightly due to cloud cover trapping heat during the night.
Paul added, "Rain during the day lowers the maximum temperature, and cloud cover at night increases the minimum temperature by trapping the heat emitted from the earth."
