Demonetisation failed
to show results in the county as RBI data showed that 99% of old currency notes
were returned. As per the data released
by the RBI, of the Rs 15.44 lakh crore of notes taken out of circulation with
demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes on 8 November, Rs 15.28 lakh crore
returned to the system by way of deposits by the public.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in November 2016 that Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes would no longer be accepted, he anticipated that the corrupt people and businessman would be stuck with ‘worthless pieces of paper’.
After a span of 10 months it has come to the notice that now the scheme of banning notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 has been a huge failure of the government.
Prominent personalities including Twitter users have expressed their anger in their tweets against the ruling NDA government.
The AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi twetted , “A colossal failure which cost innocent lives and ruined the economy. Will the PM own up?”
Former Finance minister, P. Chidambaram twetted "Was demonetisation a scheme designed to convert black money into white?”
Vikram Jeet Singh, mentioned "Chai wala and Kaitley wala failed again! Tea is stil back.”
Nabila Sheikh showed her anger and wrote "A round of applause for all those who voted for Modiji. He has completely destroyed our country. #Failed_Government.”
Another twitter user Simmi Jain twetted "Demonetisation was a disaster as it failed to tackle terror, naxal problem and black money.”
