GST Savings Festival: Tax Rates Reduced on 375 Items, Government Spends Rs 88.74 Crore on AdsĀ 

The government has spent Rs 88.74 crore on advertising the GST Savings Festival, which reduced tax rates on approximately 375 items from September 22, 2025, the Finance Minister of State Pankaj Chaudhary informed Lok Sabha on Monday.

The tax cuts were decided at the 56th GST Council meeting on September 3, 2025, where central and state governments agreed to lower rates on essential goods, including kitchen products, electronics, medicines, equipment, and vehicles.

Chaudhary said the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has been monitoring prices of packaged food, medicines, and other essential items before and after the rate reductions to ensure proper implementation.

The minister provided the information in response to a written question regarding the total expenditure on GST Savings Festival advertising.
