BJP Ravi Shankar Prasad Slams Mahagathbandhan, Questions Rahul Gandhi's Absence and Calls Alliance “Weak and Corrupt”
“Every party's symbol was there, but Rahul Gandhi's photo was missing. What kind of alliance is this?” Prasad asked.
BJP Ravi Shankar Prasad Slams Mahagathbandhan, Questions Rahul Gandhi’s Absence Latest News: BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, addressing a press conference, questioned why Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s photo was missing from the Mahagathbandhan’s press briefing, where RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was announced as the alliance’s Chief Ministerial face.
“Every party’s symbol was there, but Rahul Gandhi’s photo was missing. What kind of alliance is this?” Prasad asked.
Taking a jibe at the opposition alliance, he added, “There are 243 seats in Bihar, but the Mahagathbandhan is contesting on 255 seats. In the Gaura Bauram Assembly constituency, both the 'would-be' Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister are contesting. This shows how weak the alliance is.”
Prasad further alleged that both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav are tainted by corruption cases. “Lalu Prasad Yadav has been convicted in four fodder scam cases, with a total sentence of 32.5 years,” he said.
Commenting on Tejashwi Yadav, Prasad stated, “Two orders have been issued by the Delhi High Court in the IRCTC hotels corruption case. The court observed that this is a serious case of corruption and fraud under Section 420 of the IPC, which carries a punishment of seven years. Tejashwi Yadav, you are an accused under Section 420.”
He cautioned the people of Bihar, saying, “Their background is filled with corruption. None of their work happens without it. I am providing proof of this. The people of Bihar should be careful — those who promise 2.60 crore permanent jobs may end up ruining lives instead.”
Earlier in the day, during the Mahagathbandhan’s press conference, Tejashwi Yadav promised that every family in Bihar would have at least one member employed in a government job.
BJP National Spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam also took a dig at the alliance, claiming, “Rahul Gandhi wanted Tariq Anwar to be the CM face. In his view, Tejashwi Yadav is not fit for the post as he failed Class 9. That’s why he was reluctant to announce Tejashwi’s name. Today’s announcement could have been made by Rahul Gandhi; Ashok Gehlot wasn’t needed.”
Meanwhile, Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram said the announcement of Tejashwi Yadav as the CM face came at the “right time.” He added, “Seat sharing is not an issue. All parties — Congress, RJD, and others — have released their respective lists.”
Responding to BJP’s criticism, Tejashwi Yadav said, “We have vision, reason, and a blueprint. We have an undying passion and a new mindset to build a new Bihar. The BJP should first clarify who their CM face is. People of Bihar want change and development. Mukesh Sahani has been announced as the Deputy CM face, and others from different communities will also be included.”
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will soon launch their campaign in Bihar. “We are planning 10-11 visits of Rahul Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi will also campaign in the state. Preparations are underway,” said Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram.
"Being accused is one thing. Being convicted is another": Ashok Gehlot on BJP Ravi Shankar Prasad Accusations Against Yadavs
On BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad's statement, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot says, "Being accused is one thing. Being convicted is another... When no one has been convicted, how can you predict the consequences in advance? No one accepts themselves as accused... They just boast during elections. They try to win by telling lies. Rajasthan is a prime example of this..."
