Chirag Paswan Confirms NDA to Form Bihar Government Before November 22, Blueprint Finalised Soon

Chirag Paswan, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president, confirmed on 16 November 2025 that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form the new Bihar government before 22 November, coinciding with the end of the current Assembly’s term. He said discussions among alliance partners are already underway, and a detailed blueprint for the cabinet is expected within a day.

Following the NDA’s sweeping victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the alliance secured 202 out of 243 seats, marking its second time crossing the 200-seat threshold after 2010. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats, while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) won 85 seats. Paswan’s LJP(RV) captured 19 seats, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) won 5, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha secured 4 seats. The Opposition, including RJD and Congress, suffered significant losses, with the RJD managing 25 seats and Congress just 6.

Paswan, after a cordial meeting with Nitish Kumar in Patna, stated that he would also consult senior Union ministers, with clarity on leadership and ministerial portfolios expected soon. He endorsed Nitish Kumar for a tenth term as Chief Minister, reflecting strong NDA unity. According to sources, the NDA has drafted a cabinet formula based on six MLAs per minister: the BJP will get 15–16 ministerial berths, JD(U) 14, LJP(RV) 3, HAM(S) 1, and RLM 1.

Rashtriya Lok Morcha leader Upendra Kushwaha noted that the formation process would begin within two to three days, once victorious MLAs arrive in Patna. Ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, Nitish Kumar will meet Governor “Arif Mohammad Khan** to submit his resignation and discuss the oath-taking schedule.

Political analysts say the NDA’s swift government formation highlights the alliance’s cohesion and focus on stability and development. With ministerial allocations largely settled, Bihar is set for a smooth transition as the state enters its next legislative term.
