Congress Once Again Accuses Modi & ECI of Vote Chori, This Time in Bihar; Latest News: The largest opposition party in the country, on Wednesday, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission of India of having together carried out large-scale “vote theft” in Bihar, citing reports.

In a statement on its X, the Congress said, “After SIR in Bihar, the final voter list has come, in which Narendra Modi and the Election Commission have together carried out large-scale ‘vote theft.’”

Citing reports, Congress alleged the new voter list has 1.435 million fake voters. Around 1.32 crore voters have been added with fake addresses, and the names of deceased people are also included in the final voter list.

It further alleged that there is repetition of the same name multiple times. In Barachatti Assembly, it said, house number 6 has 877 voters registered, while in Matihani Assembly, one house has 855 voters registered.

Similarly, it alleged that in Parsa Assembly, one house has 853 voters registered and that in Pipra Assembly, one house has 505 and another house has 442 voters registered.

Congress called the Special Intensive Revision of the voter list a new weapon of the ruling party.

“After the release of the new list, it has become clear that Narendra Modi and the Election Commission are involved in ‘vote theft,’ and SIR is their new weapon. But Narendra Modi should remember—the public has understood their vote theft game and will respond in the elections,” Congress said in a statement.

Earlier today, ANI reported that Congress will release a chargesheet against the NDA government in Bihar tomorrow at the Congress office in Patna. Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Ashok Gehlot, and Bhupesh Baghel will release the chargesheet at 2 p.m. tomorrow.

The developments come about a month ahead of the Bihar Assembly election.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India on Wednesday issued directions for strict implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the Bihar elections.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) had announced the schedule for the General Election to the Legislative Assembly of Bihar on October 6, 2025. The Assembly elections in Bihar are scheduled to be held in two phases, with polling on November 6 (121 seats) and November 11 (122 seats).

Bihar has a total of 7.42 crore voters — 3.92 crore male and 3.5 crore female voters. Around 14 lakh are first-time voters, while 14,000 voters are over 100 years old. There are a total of 90,712 polling stations across the state.

For the convenience of the elderly above the age of 85 and for those electors with benchmark disabilities, the ECI has initiated postal ballot voting in the Bihar Assembly elections, the ECI said on Wednesday.

Electors engaged in essential services on the date of polling can apply for the postal ballot facility. Essential services such as Fire Services, Health, Electricity, Traffic, Ambulance Services, Aviation, and long-distance Government Road Transport Corporations are covered under this facility, the press note stated.
