A 14-year-old boy died in Punjab while playing football at an inter-village tournament after he suddenly collapsed on the field, raising concerns.
The deceased has been identified as Jassu, also known as Jasmeet, son of Parshottam, a resident of Alamwala village in Malout.
According to Pindra Singh, a local resident, a football tournament was organised on Sunday by the Maharishi Balmiki Sports Club at Dhrangwala village, in which teams from different villages participated.
He said that during the first match, while the game was underway, the 14-year-old suddenly fell to the ground, reportedly after a sudden attack or seizure, with foam coming out of his mouth.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
It has been learnt that Jassu was the youngest member of his family and the only brother of three sisters. His father is a daily wager working in the village.
Doctors said that the exact cause of death will be known after the postmortem report. The body has been kept at a government hospital.
ASI Gurmeet Singh of Sadar Police Station said that the matter is under investigation.
